An Account of My Attempt to Quit Smoking
Biddy, biddy, biddy!!!

Well I'm on day three! I guess for some people, that's not a big deal, but for me, it's quite the achievement. I've doubled my previous record, and even begun to leave that in the dust. I'm not much on pulling my own chain (not entirely true, I mean, I have a BLOG don't I?) but I just want to say that I'm DAMN PROUD OF ME!!

But anyway, just to change the tempo a little bit, since there's only so much to be said about the ammount of time that has passed since I last lit a cigarette, I figured I'd spend today's daily entry talking about one of the things that I plan to purchase to reward myself at a certain goal. Right now the earmark for this goal is one month, that's 4 weeks, which will come out to be about Oct 24th I do believe. I knew that there were obvious rewards, ya know, living longer, having a healthier son, etc. BUT I also know me. ANd I have to have at least SOME kind of frivolous reward system. Well, instead of telling myself I was going to buy certain things that I've been wanting for a while. Such as, new parts for my computer, dvds for my collection, etc. I wanted to treat myself to some bizarro, off the wall, purchase that I WOULD NEVER MAKE OTHERWISE!!! Something that I would KNOW just from the mention of its name, or the sight of it, that I had only because I stopped smoking. And that something has been narrowed down to this....

A ROBOSAPIEN!!!
I apologize, I'm at work, and I have no way of uploading pictures, or I would put a picture of hte groovy little techno dude in here, but I can't! Anyway, he's a remote control robot. Yeah it's about the geekiest thing on the planet to get excited about, and he's probably going ot be incredibly difficult to control, and there's even a chance that I might be disappointed with my purchase. But the point is, I WILL STILL HAVE IT!! It's not something I need by any means! It's about the most unpractical purchase I could think of. A TOY that I can justify buying simply because it has some kind of technological significance!

I'm also pretty sure there's some kind of subconscious psychological thing happening here as well. On top of the geeky fanboy who watched things like Star Wars, Buck Rogers, and Lost in Space one to many times and the desire to blow the money I'm saving from cigarettes on ONE ridiculous thing. This probably also has to do with Alexander being born in 7 weeks. I think that I just want to have a little bitty thing which can be controlled easily, and will not require the extensive ammount of work and determination that raising him properly will. But GOD, wouldn't it be great if he was born with a remote, and a set of commands? Not to mention the preloaded dance moves!!! LOL!
